cosrx Low pH Good Morning Cleansing Gel ReviewI am obsessed with cleansers. For real. Cleansers are probably one of my favorite beauty products to buy – which is why I have like 15 of them and can never stop buying them. So when I get down to the very last drops of a cleanser, it’s rare…and it means that I am utterly obsessed with it. As I am squeezing the last drops of the cosrx low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser out of the tube, let me tell you that it’s being added to the Sheryll Holy Grail Product list. It’s SO NICE. Simple, easy, GOOD. Cosrx is really killing the game right now. If there was one single brand that I could recommend to all newbie K-Beauty enthusiasts, it would be it. I’ve honestly yet to try something from the brand that wasn’t effective. And listen, we all know how I feel about the su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing stick, which I still believe is one of the best K-Beauty products ever (literally). But the cosrx low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is simple, no-fuss perfection. That’s why I love it so much. But back to the review. The cosrx low pH cleanser comes packaged in a plastic tube container, with 150mL of product. It has a clear gel texture, and has a gentle lather. It smells like tea tree oil, which I thought I’d be bothered by, but it’s actually really refreshing. If you don’t like the scent of tea tree, no worries, the scent doesn’t linger once you rinse it off. I use it both night and day, but tend to gravitate towards it more in the daytime after my morning workout. It also works well after a nice oil cleanse to remove the rest of your makeup. So what ‘s the big deal with the whole low pH thing? Does it matter? If you haven’t read all about why you need/should be washing your face with a low pH cleanser, check out the article I wrote for xoNecole, here. Basically, if the pH of your skin is too high (or too low), you can damage your acid mantle aka your protective layer of skin. If you’re acid mantle is all fucked up, this can result in acne, breakouts, dry skin, super oily skin, etc. etc. Basically, you want to make sure your acid mantle is all the way together, and typically the biggest culprit of acid mantle disturbance is your cleanser. Washing your face with a cleanser that has a pH higher than a 6/6.5 can damage the skin, making it more prone breakouts and other skin issues. Sadly, most commercial cleansers have incredibly high pH. The cosrx cleanser boasts a pH of somewhere between 5.0 and 6.0, which is the perfect sweet spot for a cleanser. And those those curious about ingredients: A lot of the negative reviews I’ve seen about the low pH cleanser are that it is super drying and it makes people’s faces feel tight. Thankfully, I’ve never had that issue. It rinses clean, doesn’t leave any film behind, and leaves my skin soft and smooth. I’m personally not the biggest fan of my skin feeling “hydrated” after I wash it, because I feel like it’s just a weird film clinging to my skin. The cosrx pH cleanser isn’t a groundbreaking product. There’s really only so much you can do with a cleanser, mostly because you’re only keeping it on your skin for a little while. But I love it because it’s gentle, affordable, and feels really great on the skin. It’s one of those cleansers I keep gravitating towards all the time, because I just love how it makes my skin feel. When the lovely ladies from cosrx visited HCMC for the beauty expo, they gifted me this product. If you’re interested in purchasing, you can find it at the following places: Wishtrend – $9.35 (currently sold out, will update when available!) The product was gifted to me by the kind people at cosrx. Also, this post contains affiliate links. This in no way affects my reviews. Ya’ll know I keep it real! About GERDWhat is GERD?Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is abnormally frequent or chronic reflux, with symptoms typically surfacing twice or more per week. It is the most common gastrointestinal-related diagnosis given by physicians during clinical visits in the U.S. When left untreated, it can lead to serious complications such as changes to esophageal structure or Barrett’s esophagus. GERD affects people differently and involves symptoms which vary from mild to moderate or severe. Mild sufferers may experience occasional bouts of heartburn. More severe patients can experience heartburn daily. Other patients never experience heartburn, but may have symptoms such as asthma, chronic cough, hoarseness, or chest pain due to persistent reflux. Treatment for GERD varies from person to person depending on the severity of symptoms: mild sufferers may experience relief by implementing simple lifestyle changes, while others can control symptoms through medication therapy. People who experience more invasive symptoms of GERD consistently may require or opt for surgery. It is important to remember that GERD is a chronic disease that usually requires lifetime management to control symptoms if left untreated. What is acid reflux?Acid reflux, commonly experienced as heartburn or regurgitation, occurs when stomach fluids back up, or reflux, into the esophagus, exposing it to gastric acid and other contents. While occasional reflux is normal, for some it can be frequent and severe enough to impact daily life. How does chronic acid reflux impact your daily life?It is estimated that pain and discomfort from acid reflux impacts over 80 million people at least once per month in the U.S. alone.[1] GERD can impact a patient’s life in some of the following ways:
What happens if you don’t treat chronic acid reflux?Chronic, prolonged exposure to reflux may result in inflammation, irritation, or swelling of the esophagus. This condition, known as esophagitis, can be accompanied by more concerning complications such as ulcers, hemorrhage, or precancerous cellular changes. While symptoms alone can significantly interfere with one’s quality of life, GERD is also associated with the development of Barrett’s esophagus, a condition that causes a cellular change in the lining of the lower esophagus. In a percentage of patients, it can progress to esophageal cancer, a potentially life-threatening illness. To avoid this and additional potential complications, it is important to take GERD symptoms seriously and seek treatment from a healthcare professional as soon as possible. Having heartburn or acid reflux from time to time is normal; having it frequently interrupt your life is not. If you suffer symptoms of reflux more than twice a week, you may have GERD. Take the GERD-HRQL survey if you suspect a problem and bring the results to your doctor for a GERD evaluation. [1] Data on file at EndoGastric Solutions [2] Brook RA, et al.
